The engineer Miguel Vargas Maldonado seems to be at this momentous time in a situation of his political career, because the final decision to take against the results of the recently concluded convention of the Dominican Revolutionary Party, may mark forever the course of his public life.
Probably the incumbent president of the PRD is considering making a decision similar to that once took other prominent Dominican political leaders, as Fernando Alvarez Bogaert, when he left the Reform Party, James PRD Majluta when he left to found the Institutional Revolutionary Party , Eduardo Estrella, when he resigned from reformism to create your own project, and Hatuey De Camps, when he broke with the White Party to make separate tent in the Social Democratic Revolutionary Party. In the State and in a good part of Dominican society, including the media, there is an adequate understanding of the real economic and social dimension of tourism, although this sector currently represents the main source of wealth the country, which contributes both directly and by its ability to spill over other sectors of the economy.
This reality is just to show, once again, in the draft Budget and Public Expenditure Act of 2011, the Government submitted to Congress in proposing the 0.20 percent of the total national budget to a sector representing 25 percent of gross domestic product of the Dominican Republic. Pyrrhic truly an investment for a line that generates hundreds of thousands of jobs directly and indirectly affecting other important sectors and also gives the government more than 4 billion dollars in taxes.
